Congratulations..

.. for being one of the 200 lucky ones!

Last Tuesday, my dad got a phone call from a lady bout wining a voucher for 2 days 1 night stay at Tioman Island ( for 4 pax ) complimentary from Berjaya Vacation Club. So nice hor? He was among the 200 people who won the package. *I’m still wondering how Berjaya Vacation Club got hold of my dad’s name. Hmm?

The lady then told my dad that he can collect the voucher at Berjaya Palace Hotel that afternoon and she also invited my dad ( and also my mom together with ME – it was a public holiday on Tuesday ) to come for a briefing on Berjaya Vacation Club has to offer. *Sounds like a marketing gimmick to me. She also said that they provide buffet for those who attend. *Wah, buffet some more!

So around noon we ( dad, mom & me ) went to Berjaya Palace Hotel for the so-called briefing. Before attending the briefing, I decided to check out the hotel itself. Since I have NEVER been to this hotel before ( Yes, NEVER! So? Got a problem? Okay back to the checking out the hotel..)

Here are some photos taken from the inside of Berjaya Palace and the facilities they provide.

Lobby A.K.A waiting area

I was still snooping around when my dad called me up, as the briefing will be starting any minute.

This is Ami, the bubbly vacation planner for Berjaya Vacation Club, who gave us personal briefing on Berjaya Vacation Club.

NO, this wasn’t the same lady who made the phone call to my dad.

Some of the company related to Berjaya Group according to Ami.

At 1st I wasn’t paying attention to her, I was checking out the room ( a mini conference room that can fits around 50 pax )

The backdrop

This is the so-called buffet they were serving, merely 2 kinds of ‘kuih’, fried ‘kui-tiao’, tea, coffee and water. Ah, we got PUNK’D by the term BUFFET! This was TOTALLY NOT what I had in mind actually. Argh..

The 'local Malay kuih' - which I didnt try any of it.

The beverage area - coffee, tea or water?

I just realised that I left out some pics, sadly the pics are NOT with me right now. Argh.. will update more pics later ( WHEN I got hold of it )

Oh btw, my dad gave the voucher to me, since my parents had plan to go SOMEWHERE else already, hehehe... Now I'm still thinking am I gonna use it or not :p

Weekend at Melingsung

Last week Kim Wai ( Eddy’s classmate – ex-intian ) came over to Kota Kinabalu (KK) for a some roadshow thingy. Was is a roadshow or some other educational trip stuffs? I dunno, but he’s working with British Council in KL. They have some events going on in some schools in KK.

Eddy has been bring Kim Wai to most part of the place in town ( Lintas, Damai, Foh Sang, Penampang.. places where people ‘lepak’ one la! ) and out of town ( Kinabalu Park, Kundasang, Ranau, Poring.. ) Actually Eddy wanted to bring Kim Wai to one of the Tunku Abdul Rahman’s park – those islands ( Manukan island, Sapi island or Mamutik island ) BUT instead of going to those islands. He decided to bring him to Melingsung. Yes, same also what rite? Melingsun got white sandy beach also what and Eddy asked me to tag along. I was SUPPOSED to join them previously to Kinabalu Park and Poring BUT I was working. So on Sunday after mass I decided to join them. Since I know Kim Wai from college too!

Candid pic of Kim Wai

He was zz when i took this pic, just reach Summer Bay, Melingsung.

Eddy has an apartment in Summer Bay, so we were SUPPOSED relax a bit before going to the beach and this guy was sleeping away liao.. Imagine 10 minutes of relax can zz liao!

Kim Wai and the balls!

Er, i mean the fruit plant ( I have a feeling this fruit is NOT for eating ) that look like a ball! ;p
He hurted one of his finger while wanted to remove the leafs from the fruit. Ouch!

After waiting the guys finished swiming. Oh yeah, I didn't swim. I CANT SWIM ( yes, my secret is out now ) How sad huh! Can't swim at the beach! Sigh!

Around 4.30pm they got tired swiming ( tired you know swiming! ) and we left Melingsung to Papar town to check out the local 'Tamu'. Eddy let Kim Wai DROVE! I think Eddy tired being the driver liao.. Been driving alot I guess. I found out that Kim Wai was an agressive driver *gulps* The way he drove was different. I think it's because he drives a turbo car back in KL, so i guessed that influenced the way he drives (?) Anyways, when we reached Papar town, there wasn't any 'Tamu' on sight! Ahh.. too bad! Maybe it's bit late liao by then. So we head back to KK. Made a stop at the Lokawi Bay, pretty evening sight - MUST TAKE PICS!

Kim Wai - all smiley face! He loved it there!

We went to this petrol station at putatan ( I think! ) and there's these kids were doing some break dance man. I shot some pics. They were gladly to show off their skills, I wanted to go down the car BUT it was getting late!

Picture taken from the car when we passed by the kids

We are actually going to Wawasan Plaza ( 2nd floor got selling lots of handicraft ) coz Kim Wai wanted to buy some local goods /souvenir back to KL. After that the guys were playing INITIAL - D car racing game at the arcade in Wawasan Plaza. I donno why guys like to play that game?! Aren't they tired of driving whole day liao? Any guys can provide answers?

At nite we went to Diamond ( at Foh Sang, Luyang ) for dinner. This time Ah Hoh ( Eddy's colleague ) join us for dinner. Imagine we ( me la, they took a power shower this afternoon and ah Hoh surely did bath before coming for the dinner ) havent bath yet that time direct go dinner! I HOPE I didn't STINK!

After the dinner we went back home! So TIRED liao oh!

Samson’s ( belated ) birthday!

Since 1986

This is a super duper late entry! Actually I DID blog about his bday in my friendster’s blog but WITHOUT putting up any pictures coz the pictures wasn’t with me that time. So yesterday, I FINALLY got the pictures! Have to wait so darn long! Anyways, this entry is for Samson! He has been pestering me bout the pictures since after he’s bday!

So for this time around, I’m only gonna upload pictures, NOT much writings!

I *heart* the food!

Got spaghetti, lasagna ( made by Samson himself, walao way! ), butter fried chicken, fruit salad, jelly etc.. *starting to drool liao me!

The cake bought by Rose.

Samson deliberately FORCED Rose to get him the cake!
Wah, so thick face one! ( ordered from strawberry cake house )

Cake cutting session

Samson is doing the cutie look! KAWAII NEH! LoL!

So what I'm not like you?

April 06, 2006 (Thursday)
So what I'm not like you?

Dance like nobody's watching;
love like you've never been hurt.
Sing like nobody's listening;
live like it's heaven on earth.

- Mark Twain

Sometimes I think people bother too much what other people will think of them. How they look, what they wear, how they react to certain things. Can’t we just be who we are without being judge 24-7?

Is it a sin to be different?

Is it a must to blend into the crowd?

Is it others who make the call for us?

We should be what we are, NOT what you think others want us to be. Sometimes I pity kids these days. They got pressured by their parents to be good, to be the TOP in everything especially academically. Have you ever heard your parents compare you with others ( e.g.: your friends ). “How come Cassey can get better result than you?”, or “Why your mark is so low?” Sometimes, kids get frustrated with this kinda statement. I will if I heard it. Different people have different ability. Can’t they just accept it?

As for adult, the typical situation will be something like this, “eh, how come you still driving the same old junk (refer to car) get a new one la?” or “Why NOT getting married yet? See your friend already got kids already, got 2 kids some more. What are you waiting for?”

For goodness sake, it’s NOT their life. Stop pressuring others.

Instead of pressuring, I think motivating is much better. Positive people are hard to come by this day. These days you can meet lots of selfish people, everything is bout ME, ME, ME! I want to be better than you, so KIASU!

I really think that we should all be more tolerant with each other. Support others when they need it. You can make lots of friends BUT REAL friends that will be there for you are hard to get.

Anyways, back to the “I’m different from you” topic. I think everyone of us are unique, we’re born different. So what I’m NOT Miss Universe? or doesn't earn as much as my neighbors? It’s okay to look or feel differently. It’s YOU who make the different! You should be happy and be relax on your own skin. No need to pretend to be someone you are NOT. You can pretend for a certain period, BUT NOT your whole life!

Dear God

April 05, 2006 ( Wednesday )
Dear God

When I was little remembered that I wrote my Christmas 'wish list' to Santa coz I wanted Santa to know what pressie that I would like to have for Christmas. I know it's totally naive, come on I was a kid ( kids always have an overly imaginative thinking ). Every Christmas I'll get Christmas pressie from Santa ( that's what mom told me, and I BELIEVED HER! Then as i grew older my brother spoil the Santa belief by telling me it was mom who bought the pressie under the Christmas tree! spoiler! Argh..)

Anyways, my point is kids really do & say the darnest thing! Can you imagine what will kid write to God if they were given the chance? Here are some letters written by children.

The "way-to-ask-for-imortality-from-God"

Asking permission to kiss in public

Telling God that you're been thinking of HiM too

Accidentally?

God's greatest invention

The "Asking-God-to-love-my-family"

The "I- didnt-get-what-I-was-praying-for"

What race / country is God from?

Asking God to check-out my new shoes in church

Ask God to come up with a holiday

Say, what would you write to God if you were given the chance?

Bettie who?

April 04, 2006 ( Tuesday )
Bettie who?

I was doing this test for fun today

What Famous Pinup Are You?

This was the result:

*** You are Bettie Page ***

Girl next door with a wild streak
You're a famous beauty - with unique look
And the people like you are cultish about it

Who is the world is Miss Bettie Page? I have no idea or what-so-ever, so i googled her name up, and i got a pretty shocking discovery.

According to PLAYBOY magazine, Bettie Page is “the Queen of Pin-ups… the model of the century, yet she remains one of its best kept secrets.” (woah!)

Mention her name to most, you get blank stares ( yes, i'm one of them ). Mention her name to some, you get a knowing look that rocks the room! (oh-kay..) As more and more people are learning, Bettie Page is a timeless legend ( is she? ), and also a conundrum, even to herself.

For those who understand who Bettie Page was, no explanation is necessary; for those who don’t, maybe no explanation is possible. Why? Because Bettie Page was and remains an underground phenomenon, a puzzling “bad girl next door” cult figure – sort of our collective guilty pleasure. ( I'm NOT so sure that line sentense, but sounds bit kinky )

* check out the Bettie Page wall of fame gallery *

Anyways, if your still interested about who is Miss Page.

She has an Official Website. Yes, i repeat, Official Website.
Check it out www.bettiepage.com.
Lemme me just tell you that some of her sites might be a bit 18sx.
Not for the faint hearted! You have been fore warn!

If your intrested to be one of her adoring fans you can join the Bettie Page Fan Club

photohunting

April 2, 2006 ( Sunday )
Photohunting!

- Morning -

Woke up bloody early (around 5 something in the morning, for Pete’s sake, it’s still dark out there!), need to go to ‘pai-san’ with my parents ( visit the ‘death’, at the cemetery of course ) for ‘Ching-Ming’ ( something like All Souls Day for the Chinese )

The weather was bit gloomy in the morning and (yes, my prediction was right!) it started to rain while we were on our way to Papar’s Christian’s Cemetery. When we got there it’s raining cats and dogs. I almost flipped when my mom to me to stay in the CAR! OMG! What the heck? My parents ask me to come along and yet when we finally reached and I’m NOT asked to come down from the car? If like that better I don’t go lar rite? *fainted! Ah well, good also la, since it’s raining rite? Maybe mom doesn’t want me to get wet! *think positively!

After that we went to get our morning breakie, haven’t take proper breakfast yet you know! After our had our breakie we did some window shopping at Wisma Merdeka.

After our shopping went to the library for a while (my dad’s suggestion: He likes to READ!) I can BET MOST OF you guys out there DON’T EVEN OWN A Library card, right? Coz I don’t too! BUT eventually my dad does; I saw book on digital photography ( my fav. subject ) and I actually USED my dad’s card to borrow the book. Looks like I’m the 1st one who borrowed the book coz I ONLY SAW1 stamp on the book. Nobody likes digital photography izzit?

- Afternoon -

When back home pass noon, death tired. Flipped on the telly, checking out what on? It ended up the telly was watching me rather I’m watching telly coz I fell asleep with the telly on. ;p Around 2 something in the afternoon got a call from Eddy, he woke me up from my dream ( seriously I was dreaming bout eating ice cream, or rather buying an ice cream to eat. Mengidam wanna eat ice cream ka this me..? ) asking me out for lunch with other friends.

We meet up with Ah Lik, Yvonne & Ah Wai. After the 'makan', I suggested that we go photohunting. More like me wanna take pics la that time, the rest just join in my crazy idea. Eddy & me went to Yoyo Café to take away some Milk Tea. Oh yeah, Ah Wai didn’t tag along, he wanted to get his car wash. Ah well, too bad then!

1st stop – Stadium Likas
( Don’t ask me why I pick that place, it just pops into my mind )

*Me trying acting silly there! konon-konon wanna climb la that!* (Outside of the stadium)

*Posing with my Milk Tea (see hand) at the SUPER EMPTY stadium*

When I was busy photographing, Emilina smsed me:

Emilina : Yo, Amy, do u want 2 go yam cha? We r going to YoYo Lintas *aik? YoYo ?*

Me: I was just in YoYo lintas just now. I’m at stadium Likas now.

Emilina: ok. Nevermind la. Next time la *aiks? sound like not syoik liao her, I didn’t know she’s in town liao.. just came back la this so I replied her*

Me: Ur in kk liao la this. U’ll be here till when? We can arrange meet up lagi someday.

Emilina: I just came back yesterday *see I told you* next time la we meet up

Oh well bad timing!

I was taking the stadium’s pic! Wanted to take with people in it BUT looks like it’s empty! Where is everyone?

* shots taken by me*

* shots taken by me*

* shots taken by me*

2nd stop – Signal Hill Observatory A.K.A ‘chao-Meng-San’

* Everyone this is Kota Kinabalu - can see or not? *

Advertorial:

Signal Hill Observatory, with its natural surroundings, is one of the best places to view the city's skyline that extends to the islands.

* Group picture: Me, Eddy, Ah Lik & Yvonne *

3rd stop – Somewhere near Gaya Street
( I dunno what’s the name of this particular place)

After the 3rd stop everyone is death tired liao, exclude ME!. I have no idea why are they tired? I don’t even feel tired that time! Maybe lazy kena take pictures by me ler! Bler!

So, they suggested to go YoYo Café in Lintas ( AGAIN? Maybe I should change the post name to “hanging out at YoYo Café” )

Well, I was hoping Emilina and the gang are still around BUT too bad, seems like they left liao. No fate lar us! I ate some garlic cheese sandwich yummy cheese! I love them!

Went back home after our last gathering in YoYo Café.

It started to rain again! Haiyoo!

April's Frog Day

April 1, 2006 ( Saturday )
April Frog Day!

Welcome to the month or April!

I thought this year of the month I’ll be prank-less (for April Fool’s day). Guess I was WRONG!

Some bugger put a FROG ( yes, a frog! ) on my car’s bonnet! At 1st I didn’t notice it WAS a frog and USED my finger to get rid of the leaf, I mean the frog *agh! ( I really thought it was a leaf lar ) Then I felt my finger was a bit sticky and wet. I took a closer look and IT WAS A FROG! Geez, I’ve just TOUCHED a froggy! Eww, yuck!

Happy April Frog’s (Fool’s) Day to all you rascals out there!

Lesson for LIFE!

March 31, 2006 (Friday)
Lesson for LIFE!

Last week I was reading this magazine asiaSpa. I came across a short article about ‘Life Coaching’ No idea what is it? Life coaching is the millennium’s way of coping with less time, more stress and the resulting inability to step back and take an objective view of your life.

Talking bout Life Coaching reminds me of the interview I went to this morning. Man, the interview was a bit, erm.. ‘different’ from what I’ve experienced before. I think it got to do with the way the company was run. For starters, NO SHOES ARE ALLOW INTO THE OFFICE! ( PLEAE TAKE OF YOUR SHOES BEFORE ENTERING THE OFFICE!) *I’ve should have took a picture of that place!*

Surprisingly, I did NOT need to fill any application form. Which was a bit weird. *I though the NORMAL procedure was applicants should fill in a job application form BEFORE they proceed to the interview?*

It started out with the normal question like, tell me about yourself.. yada yada.. Tell me about your current job scope. Okay still standard normal question and plus other questions but suddenly pops out weird questions, like examples:-

Tell me 4 challenges/stress faces by a person. *What the heck right?

Do you read any books? What sorta books do u read? *OMG Author’s name? Name of the book?

And a lot ‘special’ questions ( It really sounded like some sort of quiz you get from CLEO mag )

Then they explain to me that this because they believe in individual development. The company will NOT grow if the staffs don’t grow together! ( yes, I totally agree on that bit ) They make sure that every employee reads a quota of book given to them ( according to level of intelligence, no they’re NOT talking about novel books or anything here okay! ). After reading the books one has to write a BOOK REVIEW! ( Why does this remind me of college days? ) Like that’s NOT enough, they will ask you to do a PRESENTATION some more! The reason? Simple: To conquer the FEAR in you. Talking about motivating your employees to the next level!

Okay, back to the magazine I was reading. Got distracted a bit there just now.

So the article mention that we should BE SMART – know our limits and avoid getting trap in caught up in the work-life balance trap. So take note about these simple steps that can help us in moving towards living a healthier and more fulfilling life.

#1 Be responsible for yourself.

If you know you cannot do the job alone and you need backup, just delegate the jobs. YOU DON’T NEED TO DO EVERYTHING YOU KNOW? Take REGULAR HOLIDAYS, or rare ‘mental health’ day * wah got such thing? if you need to reduce stress. Coach other people to respect you and your time. . *I’m getting to like this.

Me: Yes, I think vacation is good! More holidays please!

#2 Schedule blocks of time

Schedule our time efficiently in and out of work. Save most of our energetic times of the day for high demand task; then make time for low priority activities and admin. Create time for “ME” time and for OUR personal well-being – go gym ka? Go movie ka?

Me: roger that! I’m gonna watch lotsa movie now onwards! And exercise MORE OFTEN! *making mental note*

#3 Say no to distractions

Stay focused while in the office and budget time efficiently.

Me: So meaning cannot chatting or anything in the office liao is it?

#4 Leave office on time 2 – 3 days a week

Let go of needing to be seen in the office till all hours. GET A LIFE! If one is efficient and productive there’s every reason to maintain and enhance one’s ability to perform.

Me: I know I know, need to leave my work place ON TIME now! LIFE is waiting for me out there!

#5 Maximize weekends and holiday

Make most of our time off. Plan ahead for these times, so one can relax and enjoy them. LEAVE WORK WHERE THEY BELONG!

Me: MUST-PLAN-HOLIDAY!
